Aprés valentines day thought

Whilst reading a post on a fellow bloggers site the other day I noticed this quote in her left column.
I asked permission for me to use it as it really struck a chord. So it is with Amy's ( kind permission that I have shared this quote with you today.

To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless--it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.
C.S. Lewis

  1. this is so true. If you love you likely will be hurt. I watched something the other night that said the only pre-requisite to rejection is relationship. avoid relationship- avoid rejection!... worth thinking on, huh?

  2. WOW...that post was *gulp* thought evoking. Pretty spot on really.
Thank goodness I'm safe, I love animals :-)

Good post Steve and thanks Amy!

  3. Hi Girlies!

I think the over-riding message here is love and you will get hurt, choose not to love and you shall become gnarled and bitter, unable to love.

Thanks again to Amy for nicking it in the first place!
